Academic Support
Empowering Success
The Academic Support Office is available to all students looking to improve their learning habits or facing academic challenges. Whether that means implementing better note-taking, improving study skills, or refining executive functioning skills, students can seek academic support at any time throughout the school year and their time at Winsor. The Academic Support Office helps build self-advocacy skills so that all students are more willing to speak up for themselves and ask for help both at Winsor and beyond. Our goals for students who seek academic support are for them to feel equipped with different learning strategies and techniques, to feel more confident in their abilities, and to experience an increase in their own agency.
The teaching and learning specialist collaborates with students, classroom teachers, advisors, class coordinators, deans, the division heads, and families to create a support system that helps students work toward their academic goals. The specialist works closely with classroom teachers to monitor student progress and makes additional recommendations when appropriate. The specialist is responsible for interpreting psychoeducational reports for students who have been evaluated and determining if accommodations in the classroom are warranted. If a family is considering having their student evaluated, it is strongly recommended that they contact the teaching and learning specialist prior to beginning the evaluation process.
