Science Internships
Career Exploration
Each year, through an application process, Winsor offers a Science Internship Program for rising juniors and seniors interested in exploring careers in medicine or research in a STEM-related field. Participants have opportunities to learn from and work with scientists in the Longwood Medical community and the greater Boston area for several weeks over the summer. The program culminates in a poster presentation, panel discussion, and informational night for the Winsor community each January.
The Science Internship program began in 2000 under the leadership of former Science Faculty and Department Chair Ann O’Meara P’93. Ms. O’Meara mentored countless students through her long tenure at Winsor, forging connections with professors across Boston and advocating and opening doors for students with an interest in the sciences. There is now an endowed fund in her name established in 2019 by her family and friends. The initiative awards a limited amount of stipends annually to support students who might otherwise face barriers to participation.
