After a robust morning of programming, the Alumnae Board hosted a luncheon that brought everyone together in the Dining Room. Opening remarks from Alumnae Board President Erika Mayer ’91, P’25 highlighted a busy year of events, including the annual wine tasting at Urban Grape—owned by Hadley Douglas ’92 and husband TJ—and a “holiday hacks” workshop—featuring Thanksgiving beer pairings with Julie Rockett ’92, a cookie demonstration with pastry chef Rachel Sundet ’99, and cheese board tips from Winsor Culinary Director Heather Pierce.
People often think of the Alumnae Board as an entity for those who are local to Boston, and Mayer made a point to dispel that notion saying, “We have members from around the country and we are taking advantage of virtual platforms so we can connect.” Winsor also hosted events for those outside the Boston area with a virtual evening to honor retiring English faculty Jennie Skeele ’71, P’98, ’02 and area events with Head of School Sarah Pelmas in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and South Florida. “Events like these serve as a terrific reminder that the Winsor connection is forever, no matter where you are in the world,” shared Mayer.
Alum Co-Chair of Annual Giving Katherine McCord ’02 took the stage to explain that reuniting classes play an important role in Winsor’s fundraising efforts by “enthusiastically organizing class dinners, encouraging classmates to return to campus, and soliciting financial support for our beloved school.” McCord gave a special shout-out to the Class of 1983 for having the highest attendance at Alumnae Weekend, and to the Class of 1958—back on campus for their 65th reunion—for having the greatest giving participation by a reuniting class at 62 percent.
Representing the Alumnae Association, the gathered crowd voted in the 2024 Alumnae Board slate. Mayer introduced the nominees, and the secretary cast the ballot for the election.
