Winsor Cross Country Wins 18th EIL Championship Title

November 4, 2022—Congratulations to the Winsor Cross Country Team who took home their 18th Eastern Independent League (EIL) Championship title this past Friday. The team competed at Franklin Park and secured the title with a tight win over Pingree School. In an extremely close race, the results were tied after each team’s five runners crossed the finish line. The fate of the race came down to Winsor’s 6th runner, Raina Sohur ’23, who eclipsed Pingree’s 6th runner by two seconds to secure the championship. A true team effort!

Meg Madison ’24 won the race with the time of 18:35, a Franklin Park personal record. With Friday’s win she successfully defended her EIL individual title where she has been undefeated for the past three years, and she is currently undefeated in NEPSAC competition this fall. Serena Toscani ’25 and Helena Nguyen ’23 finished 8th and 15th and earned All League honors, while Suzanne Pogorelec ’24 and Emily Zhang ’25 finished 17th and 18th to force the tiebreaker.

All our cross country team members made this win possible with an outstanding 2022 season. This year marks Winsor’s largest team yet, and the EIL competition on Friday was the first race this fall where all 23 athletes finished.

From here, the Winsor Cross Country Team competed in the Division I XC Championships Saturday, November 12, at St Paul’s School in Concord, NH. The team finished 7th out of 14 teams at a very competitive NEPSAC Championship.

A special shout out to long-time Winsor Cross Country Coach Moriah Musto, who coached the team to their impressive wins. Congratulations again to the Winsor Cross Country team for an outstanding season!

Go Wildcats!
